We've decided to pass this review of the Peaches video over to Mary Emily O'Hara, who is infinitely more experienced than us to create such a review.
We’ve got a couple of Heavy Metal Covers this time for you in the Music Box, both of which were found completely by virtue of a happy accident.
The first of these metal covers believe it or not, was found when we were looking for a few Led Zeppelin covers by the likes of Lez Zeppelin, or Zeperella, one of whom even had Steve Vai jamming and shredding with them.
Surprisingly we also found a couple of more ‘acceptable’ pop stars that happened to be performing Led Zeppelin songs in their sets.
Passing over the Miley Cyrus version of this song, we finally settled on Pink, performing ‘Babe I’m Gonna Leave You‘, purely because the band looked better – a female violinist and a girl playing a Flying V is not for turning your nose up at!
Enjoy Pink playing her version of Led Zeppelin’s ‘Babe I’m Gonna Leave You‘ recorded live in Australia during the Funhouse tour:
Surprise surprise, guess what we found when we were closing a couple of youtube pages?
Black Mamba are an Italian rock band consisting of three hot chicks in micro mini shorts, and we happened to catch them playing Deep Purple’s ‘Highway Star’ for our second heavy metal cover song.
All of them are incredibly proficient musicians, with finger popping and shredding being the norm here.
We nearly turned this one down on the first solo, until we realised that this was a three piece with singer band and Deep Purple were a four piece with singer band, and Black Mamba did not have a keyboard player.
This actually makes the Black Mamba version all the more accomplished in our minds – see for yourself in this super metal cover of Deep Purple’s ‘Highway Star’:
We hope that you enjoyed our double feature of heavy metal covers, and thanks should go out to K for jogging the memory!
